Iggy and the Stooges
James Williamson is the guitarist of Iggy and the Stooges and the former Vice President of Technology Standards for Sony.
Williamson co-wrote all the songs with Iggy and played all the guitar parts for The Stooges' classic 1973 album Raw Power.
He left the band in the 1970s to pursue a career as an electrical engineer, first working for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), then Sony.
He rejoined the Stooges four years ago after retiring from Sony and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He will soon be inducted into the Electronics Hall of Fame at Cal Poly, becoming the first person to hold both of those honors.
